Back in February, when the drive began, the Ducks had their eyes on softball's biggest prize - the College World Series.

They still do, but the vision has become a bit clouded with a season that has taken more than its share of detours.

Forty-five games into Oregon coach Kathy Arendsen's third year, the big numbers for the UO outfit are improved from last season - a .278 batting average (.212 in 2004), a 1.97 earned-run average (it was 2.05 last year) and a .963 fielding percentage (up from .958).
