Wanda Burnett

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be today, April 29, for Wanda May Burnett of Springfield, who died April 26 of heart failure. She was 77.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Boughtenville, Ohio, to Clement and Myrlle Meyer Light. She lived in Ohio, Coos Bay and Brookings prior to moving to Springfield.

She married Wallace Caswell on Aug. 2, 1953, in Coos Bay. He died in 1978. She married James Vaughan in May 1980 in Springfield. He died in 1986. She married Nathaniel "Buster" Burnett on Aug. 12, 1988. He died in 2002.

She was a homemaker and mother. Burnett enjoyed fishing, embroidery, bingo and family activities. She was active in TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).

Survivors include three sons, James Caswell and Emerson Caswell, both of Springfield, and Carl Caswell of Junction City; two daughters, Virginia Wood of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Shirley Meyers of Springfield; two brothers, Roland Light of Spokane and Clifford Light of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters, Carry Mulvanes and Helen Wilson, both of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Bev Anderson, died previously.

Today's funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.

Benjamin Harris III

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held May 14 for Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Harris III of Springfield, who died April 25 of cancer. He was 68.

Harris was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Roswell, N.M., to Benjamin Harris II and Esther Deland Harris. He married his wife, Jackie Harris, on Sept. 21, 1957, in Eugene.

He graduated from high school in Pleasant Hill. He had worked as a millwright for Nicolai Door Factory and Weyerhaeuser. He enjoyed electronics, woodworking and photography, and attended Springfield Faith Center. He had lived in the Springfield area for 57 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy of Springfield; a daughter, Denna Ferguson of Springfield; a brother, Deland of Boise; three sisters, Velma Roberts of Springfield, Opal Richie of San Diego and Wilma Hicks of Porterville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The May 14 service will be held at noon in Springfield Faith Center. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Eugene. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home is...
