Auto supplier Hanwha to build U.S. site

OPELIKA, ALA. - South Korea's Hanwha L&C Corp. is building its first factory in the United States, with its Maxforma Plastics LLC division launching a $14 million plant to supply Hyundai Motor Co.'s new North American assembly plant.

The Maxforma site in Opelika will employ 100 when it is fully operational, molding glass-mat thermoplastic bumper beams and expanded polypropylene, impact-resistant bumper cores, the company said April 19.

Construction on the 80,000-square-foot facility will begin in May, with full production expected before the end of the year.
