Graduation will be Friday for 280 students at Springfield High School. Commencement speakers will be selected from seniors with highest honors.

A baccalaureate service will be Thursday.

Seniors with highest honors are:

Whitney Akers, the daughter of Judy Akers of Springfield, plans to attend New York University and major in broadcast journalism and international studies. She was president of the National Honor Society, senior class secretary, Key Club secretary and district swim champion in the 100-yard breaststroke.

James Halttunen is the son of Dana and Mary Halttunen of Springfield and plans to attend Willamette University. He was a member of the National Honor Society, recipient of a Harvard Prize Book Award, lettered in track and soccer, and was honored for math.

Marc Hardy is the son of Steve and Nancy Hardy of Springfield. He plans to attend Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho and become a music minister. He was a member of the National Honor...
