Despite a few bumps along the way, Wilsonville withstood challenges from both North Bend and Siuslaw on Saturday to capture its third consecutive OSAA Class 3A boys track and field championship.

The Wildcats cobbled together 65 points to claim the title, safely ahead of the hard-charging Bulldogs at 56 1/2 , the third-place Vikings at 52 and fourth-place Henley with 50.

`The key for us was our mental toughness and the way the kids supported each other,' Wilsonville coach Mike Henderson said. `It was a group effort, and everybody stepped up to get the job done.'
