Nobody seemed to want to lead the 800 meters until Marist's Emily Collins moved to the front of the pack.

Collins took control during the final lap and won her second state title in 2 minutes, 17.96 seconds during the OSAA Class 3A girls track and field meet Saturday at Hayward Field. The junior also won the 800 title as a freshman in 2:18.81 before finishing second last year.

"It feels great because I am in the best shape I have been in during high school," Collins said. "I was ready for this."
