PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Increasing demand in the southeast European markets has prompted France-based SAINT-GOBAIN VITRAGE, the flat glass division of SAINT GOBAIN, to build a new glass plant in Romania. Construction plans under consideration call for building a factory that will manufacture high-quality flat glass by making use of the company's latest technological developments.

Although the size of the complex has not yet been revealed it is nevertheless known that the unit will cost in excess of $100,000,000 to build. Product output will be sold in the domestic market and exported to countries in southeast Europe.

Operational start-up is scheduled for some time during the year 2006.

SAINT-GOBAIN employs a total staff of about 172,000 active in 45 countries. The company is engaged in the manufacture of flat glass, insulation, containers, building materials, pipe and industrial ceramics.
