PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Indonesia is currently said to be at risk of facing a shortage of liquefied natural gas (LNG) or coal supplies from its main suppliers. The supply of coal to state-owned PT PLN (PERSERO), for that matter, was recently disrupted because its supplier PT BUKIT ASAM is now tending to export its coal at higher prices. Coal demands from a number of Asian countries, China in particular, has been on the rise. Hence, much of the Indonesian coal is presently exported to that country.

As a result, PLN is now planning to build a new LNG terminal in West Java, Indonesia. According to Eddie Widiono Suwondho, PLN President Director, his company is now in the process of drafting an environmental impact analysis on the project. Consequently, construction work is tentatively scheduled to start-up subsequent to the completion of a project feasibility study.
