Biosite(R) Incorporated, , a leading provider of novel, rapid medical diagnostics that improve diagnosis of critical diseases, has commenced full-scale market introduction of the Triage Cardio ProfilER, a new rapid diagnostic intended to aid in the evaluation of chest pain patients. By combining four markers of cardiovascular disease in one test panel, the 15-minute diagnostic is intended to provide physicians with a fast and convenient means of assessing chest pain patients for a variety of conditions in order to potentially enable earlier therapeutic intervention or disease rule-out.
"Differentiating the source of vague chest pain symptoms often can be challenging and the window of opportunity to diagnose and institute effective treatment is short," said W. Frank Peacock, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., director of emergency department clinical operations, at The Cleveland Clinic. "The ProfilER represents an important diagnostic advancement in providing physicians with an accurate and quicker diagnosis for chest pain patients."
