TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved PREVACID(R) NapraPAC(TM) (lansoprazole delayed-release capsules and naproxen tablets kit), a first of its kind combination package containing two widely used medications in one prescription. PREVACID NapraPAC contains the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Naprosyn(R) (naproxen tablets) and the acid suppressor PREVACID(R) (lansoprazole), the most prescribed* proton- pump inhibitor (PPI) in the U.S., in one convenient package. PREVACID NapraPAC is indicated for reducing the risk of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers in patients with a history of a documented gastric ulcer that require the use of an NSAID for treatment of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Controlled studies did not extend beyond 12 weeks.
