Article Excerpt
There are four open seats on the Schaumburg Township District Library board of trustees, which are being sought by incumbents Robert Frankel, Robert Lyons and Debby Miller, as well as newcomers Anita Forte-Scott, Richard Hetzer and Aruna Sathia. Miller is running as a write-in candidate.

Q. Explain the district's current balance between providing necessary services and keeping taxes as low as possible and whether you believe there should be any change to that balance.

Forte-Scott: Proper stewardship of the funds necessary to run the library is a major responsibility of the library trustees. The services provided are also a major responsibility. So, the blending and balancing of the two requires knowledge, forethought and careful consideration. I am definitely not in favor of any requested tax referendums that would place an even greater burden to the families living within Schaumburg Township. The library district receives $12 million each year to function and provide services. This amount of funds comes from the taxpayers as well as additional funding, grants and donations from individuals, organizations, businesses and the state of Illinois. Trustees play the major role in the accountability of these funds and should be savvy enough to keep abreast of the newest financial information so as to be looking out for the best interests...
