Forrest Dornon

COBURG - The funeral will be held April 1 for Forrest Elias Dornon of Coburg, who died March 26 of age-related causes. He was 84.

Dornon was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Charleston, W.Va., to Charles and Hallie Covey Dornon. He married L. Alene Vogt on Nov. 17, 1942, in Eugene. She died March 7, 2005.

He was a foreman on the street patching crew for Lane County roads for 30 years, retiring in the early 1980s. He received his general equivalency diploma from Lane Community College in 1968.

Dornon was among the founders of the Coburg Fire District and served as the volunteer chief of the Coburg Fire Department for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening, fishing, reading and watching old westerns. He belonged to Thousand Trails.

Survivors include two sons, Randy of Springfield and Jerry of Salem; a daughter, Nancy Riess of Regina, Saskatchewan; a brother, Gary of Santa Maria, Calif.; a sister, Mary Lou Brooks of Atwater, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grand- children and one great-great- grandchild.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the Coburg United Methodist Church. Friday's service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church. Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coburg Fire Department.
