RIDGELAND -- When the U.S. Pavilion "The Franklin Spirit" opens at the 2005 World Expo in Aichi, Japan, Mississippi engineering and architecture firms will be largely responsible for the "oohs" and "aahs" expected from the state-of-the-art exhibit designed to represent the best in U.S. technology.
HESM&A of Ridgeland is providing the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design for the United States Exhibit Building for the 2005 World's Fair in Japan. Hollomon Architects of Jackson is the architectural design firm for the facility.
The theme for the 25,000-square-foot facility is "Nature's Wisdom." The project includes a 250-seat theater, reception, kitchen and lounge areas, meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor cafe areas and staff areas.
An estimated 800 to 1,000 people per hour--12,000 to 15,000 visitors per day-are expected to visit the exhibit, which will open in March 2005 and last 185 days.
