Member National Assembly and Chairman of AN standing committee on water and power Saleem Jan Mazari said that Pakistan is going to face 5000 mw power shortage by 2006 due to the widening gap between demand and supply.

Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) he advised the business community to avail this opportunity and install power generating units of up to 50 mw which require no permission from federal government.

He said that under independent power plants (IPP) policy setting up power plants up to 50 mw comes under provincial government purview.
