Suppliers know the importance of winning and holding onto new business. Dana is no stranger to this idea and certainly embraced its newfound BMW X5 business when they were awarded the contract for the front axle.

"Dana realized that the BMW business was a real opportunity for change for us," says Jon Vitaniemi, plant manager of the Orangeburg facility. "Companies look lot events or opportunities like this that allow them to move for ward with ideas and do things they've been wanting to do. And certainly the BMW business was one of those things for Dana Corporation, especially with respect to axles.

"BMW was not only willing to move for ward with us, they were expecting that from us. Being aligned with a premiere automobile manufacturer--any business with BMW is good for Dana Corporation. It's a move into a more prestigious market."
