TOKYO, Dec. 27 Kyodo

Share prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange ended the morning slightly higher Thursday after moving in a tight range with investors reluctant to actively trade ahead of the year-end holidays.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average climbed 31.84 points, or 0.31%, to end the morning at 10,224.41. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues rose 2.78 points, or 0.28%, to 996.79.
