TOKYO, Dec. 26 Kyodo

Share prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed a directionless session lower Wednesday with the market lacking fresh trading incentives and the participation of foreign investors due to the Christmas holiday season.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 62.24 points, or 0.61%, to close at 10,192.57. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues fell 8.81 points, or 0.88%, to 994.01, closing below the 1,000 level for the first time in four trading days.
