TOKYO, Dec. 21 Kyodo

The U.S. dollar maintained the 129 yen range for the first time in 38 months on Friday in Tokyo, while the euro also surged to a 26-month high against the Japanese currency, due to the yen's across-the-board weakness on the back of Japan's faltering economy.
