TOKYO, Dec. 19 Kyodo

The Bank of Japan's decision to take further credit-easing steps lifted sentiment Wednesday on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), with the key Nikkei index turning upward in the last minutes of the day.

Buying was sparked immediately after the BOJ announced a set of credit-easing steps about 2:55 p.m., turning around the Nikkei, which had been in negative territory at the time.
