Tokyo stocks close higher despite credit concerns.

TOKYO, Dec. 18 Kyodo

Share prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed higher Tuesday as firm high-tech issues shrugged off selling pressure from continuing concerns over credit risks.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 108.82 points, or 1.05%, to close at 10,432.17. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues rose 3.63 points, or 0.37%, to 992.61.

Volume on the main section rose to 901.64 million shares from 790.81 million Monday. Losers beat gainers...
