TOKYO, Dec. 6 Kyodo

A substantial overnight gain in New York's Nasdaq composite index boosted technology issues in Tokyo on Thursday morning, sending the Nikkei Stock Average briefly above the 11,000 line.

The 225-issue Nikkei passed the 11,000 threshold for the first time in seven trading days and touched a session high 11,052.51, but later came under profit-taking, ending the morning up 266.24 points, or 2.49%, at 10,980.05.
