Tokyo stocks directionless amid wait-and-see mood.

Share prices on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed marginally higher Friday after hovering for most of the day around the previous day's closing line, with investors taking a wait-and-see attitude ahead of the weekend.

The lack of direction in trading was largely due to an upcoming methodological change in the stock indexes of Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), brokers said.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 41.48 points, or 0.39%, to close at 10,697.44....
