Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.4% in October from 5.3% in September, marking a record high for the second month as more people lost jobs due to corporate restructuring amid the prolonged economic decline, the government said Friday.

As in the previous month, male full-time workers were particularly hard hit by job losses, with the jobless rate for men climbing 0.4 percentage point to a record 5.8%, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said in a preliminary report....
