A knife-wielding woman cut a young female teacher with a knife at a kindergarten in Tokyo's Suginami Ward on Tuesday morning and fled the scene, police said.

The woman, aged around 50, slashed the 23-year-old female teacher in both shoulders and the left leg through the kindergarten gate's fence when the teacher approached her. There were no children nearby at the time of the attack because the kindergarten was not yet open for the day.
