When we look to the influence of Greco-Roman tradition, we find traces of it in our law, art and other areas but no direct connection to the conduct of our lives. This is true to a certain extent with Christianity as well: The past is a palimpsest, overwritten by subsequent ages, but essentially static when it comes to interpretation of scripture.
