Did the Cubs benefit from addition by subtraction when they dealt Sammy Sosa?

There can't be much doubt.

Cubs GM Jim Hendry is a smart guy, and while he inherited Sosa and couldn't do much to move him until now, Hendry almost certainly realizes his club will be better off with players more focused on winning, not individual stats.

When Kenny Lofton confronted Sosa following Game 7 of the 2003 NLCS, Lofton merely wanted to know if Sosa was interested in winning or being known forever as a selfish player.
