There was no dappled shade to sit within, no warmth of spring to savor. Still 10 imaginative individuals and one columnist gathered at the Lisle Library last week, all for a love of poetry.

Among the four men and six women who braved chilling temperatures, there were few similarities. Seated in a circle, each person shared why they came, what fascinates them about verse and personal experiences in writing poems. Few defined themselves by occupation, family or achievements.

No names were given; it seemed unnecessary.
