CORVALLIS - Oregon State had reasons to celebrate.

"It is a big deal," senior forward David Lucas said after the Beavers clinched a winning record for the first time in 15 years with an 82-63 win over California Saturday evening at Gill Coliseum. "This is the start of a lot of things. I've been here for four years and we've never had a winning season. It means a lot to me to be part of this and to go out like this."

There were also reasons to temper the enthusiasm.

"We have a bunch of short-term goals and we are just checking them off one-by-one," guard J.S. Nash said. "Now that we have a winning season we are trying to go into the postseason. Either...
