Article Excerpt The Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) in White Plains is promising to sparkle as never before on its diamond anniversary, with a series of events it says will make its 75th year the best ever.
"Our scope has expanded over the 75 years," said Lisa Deutsch, the conservatory's executive director, at a Jan. 14 kickoff breakfast held within the school's building at 216 Central Ave. "We began as a conservatory for classical music and have grown to incorporate all forms of music.
"We send our students to Jnilliard and Oberlin and the like, but we also exist to provide enrichment for everyone in the community," Deutsch said.
Among children's performing arts groups nurtured at the conservatory are a chamber orchestra and junior strings, choruses for children and teens, a jazz vocal chorus and big band, a theater troupe, the...
