You may think that Wi-Fi and 2G+, as a true, one-networked experience, is fiction, but your company and your employees can benefit from that experience today.

Wi-Fi consists of private wireless LANS within an enterprise or a home; paid hotspots in, for example, hotels; and free hotspots. Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWANs), such as those from Verizon Wireless are wide-area cellular networks otherwise known as 2G, 3G, or 4G.

The interest and desire for anytime, anywhere high-speed wireless data communications rages because of the need for mobile personnel to have access to/from corporate information and the Internet. Why? Enterprises have invested significantly in real-time business infrastructures, but many employees are often not sitting at desktops to access that information. Mobile end users, however, have come to have such low expectations for performance when accessing information in a mobile environment--if they have expectations at all. With today's available technology, end users should expect more.

Here's the issue. Wi-Fi and WWANs present a trade-off among coverage, performance, and cost; and in today's world, mobile users must choose between the two.
