Seeking window of opportunity
Skyline windows, on broadway and West 130th Street, is no stranger to eminent domain. If the state condemns its property in the name of Columbia University's expansion, it will be the third time that the window manufacturing and installation company has been forced to move.
"We were on West 50th until 1985, when the city condemned property across the street to build a school and put in a bus lane that made it impossible for us to unload our trucks,'' says Skyline President Steven Kraus. The company then moved its business and nearly 150 workers to West Harlem, near...
