PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local ANSHAN IRON & STEEL GROUP CORP. recently signed a letter of intent with the Shenyang municipal government in order to establish a high-quality products processing and distribution base in the capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province. The past years saw a high-speed development in Shenyang, especially its automobile industry. The automobile sector is thus playing an increasingly important role in this northeastern industrial city, and the group, headquartered in the nearby steel town of Anshan, is seeking to profit from this. The high-end automobile steel plate sector, for that matter, has assumed an increasingly important part in the group's business.

According to Liu Jie, ANSHAN General Manager, the new plant is intended to complete his company's products chain as well as enable better serving its local clients. Shenyang, for that matter, is home to the JINBEI AUTOMOBILE CO., one of the nation's major mini-bus producers in addition to Germany-based BMW's first plant in China. The city is said to be hungry for steel, with many large-scale enterprises consuming 1 million tons of steel annually. And, the figure is set to rise as Shenyang continues its economic recovery.

Although the cost of the project has not yet been revealed it is nevertheless known that the complex will include the construction of a new 1 square km plant designed to provide high-end products for the local automobile, machine tool and aircraft industries as well as serve as the ANSHAN distribution center for northeastern China.
