Article Excerpt When Bobbie Gottlieb and her husband, Robert, now deceased, started their company in their New Rochelle home in 1968, they began by selling large replicas of popular consumer products.
"They sold beyond our expectations," she said, referring to the outsized, inflatable depictions of products such as Skippy peanut butter or Pepsi or Coke cans. "They really caught on. It was a very hot item, and the company quickly changed from just a part-time business to something that we had to devote 25 hours a day to."
Bobbie Gottlieb, now chief executive officer and co-owner of Two's Company Inc. with her three sons, got the ideas from what was new and trendy--Claus Oldenburg's and Andy Warhol's Pop Art.
The company, now based in Mount Vernon, sells various products, including old-fashioned French candy jars, candlesticks shaped like palm trees and photo frames resembling beach chairs. Half of its products are new each year.
