...effectively measure under extreme temperature and pressure conditions and is designed to provide stable response over a wide pH range. The sensor's stable response is achieved using a proprietary process for depositing a metal oxide layer on an iridium indicator electrode.

John Robechek, SensIrOx's president and CEO, explained that, historically, metal oxide pH probes have tended to have deficiencies with respect to their stability. The INpHO probe is based on a proprietary process for growing an iridium oxide film via the oxidation of an iridium wire in a lithium carbonate melt. The lithium doping provides a sensing electrode that exhibits a highly stable output. The Ohio State University has a patent pending on the technique for making the iridium oxide electrode. The process is based on technology developed by Marc Madou, Sheng Yao, and others at Ohio State. Marc Madou is an advisor to SensIrOx.
