Kulicke and Soffa Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:KLIC)gapped up about 3% before market opening today, while trading with an early volume of 500,000 which is sure to surpass the average.

Kulicke recently released 1st quarter fiscal results, with a disappointing loss of $7.2 million or $0.14 per diluted share on revenue of 116.3 million.

Analysts were expecting a loss of somewhere around $0.06 a diluted share on revenue of 121 million.

Chariman and CEO, Scott Kulicke, stated, "Current levels of business are consistent with our previously announced view that the industry may be settling into the trough of the cycle.
