PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Qatar's North Field is said to contain proven gas reserves of more than 900 trillion cubic feet. As a result, the country is now gearing-up to produce some 2.9 billion cubic feet per day gas from its giant deposit. In so doing, the local QATAR LIQUEFIED GAS CO. recently awarded a construction contract for new offshore gas production facilities to NATIONAL PETROLEUM CONSTRUCTION CO. (NPCC) of the UAE.

According to the terms of the award, NPCC will be responsible for completing the offshore facilities by December 2007. The cost to implement the project has been estimated at $500,000,000.

NPCC, a joint venture company owned by ADNOC (70%) and CONSOLIDATED CONTRACTORS GROUP, a subsidiary of CONSOLIDATED CONTRACTORS INTERNATIONAL of Greece, has a total employment of some 5,200. The firm is involved in the...
