Article Excerpt Reflecting increased industrial user demand for EtherNet/IP, which facilitates plug-and-play interoperability between Ethernet and DeviceNet(tm)-based products or devices, ODVA (Ann Arbor, MI, 734-975-8840)(www.odva.org), an international association comprised of automation companies that supports network technologies based on the common industrial protocol (CIP(tm)), last October, authorized the Center Verteilte Systeme at the Institute of Ergonomics (CVS@IAF), Manufacturing Systems and Automation of Otto-von-Guericke-University (Magdeburg, Germany, ++49-391-671-1827)(www.uni-magdeburg.de/iaf/cvs) as the first European facility for EtherNet/IP (industrial protocol) product conformance testing.
ODVA currently manages the specifications and oversees conformance testing for DeviceNet(tm) and EtherNet/IP. Such testing provides vendor-independent assurance that products which are brought to market fully comply with the ODVA specifications.
