Hilton Hotels Corp. has confirmed it is selling the Tarrytown hotel it built and has operated since 1961 to a franchisee that may operate it under one of the lodging giant's other brands.

Hilton declined to disclose the identity of the new owner or offer other details about the sale, pending its completion.

"The deal is supposed to close in the middle of January," said Kathy Shepard, a Hilton spokeswoman, on Jan. 11.
