CORVALLIS - Jay John sounds like a confused chef these days.

"We've got good ingredients, and we still have to find the right recipe," the Oregon State coach said.

The Beavers are getting closer to full strength as they prepare to open the Pac-10 men's basketball schedule against UCLA at 3:05 p.m. today at Gill Coliseum.

David Lucas made his season debut in Tuesday's win over Sacramento State, and forward Jim Hanchett rejoined the team after finishing his football season in the Insight Bowl. Guard Angelo Tsagarakis remains out indefinitely following shoulder surgery, and reserve center Derek Potter is expected to miss a week with a sprained ankle.
