Hair Care Liposomes

Comments: Hair Care Liposomes are positively charged liposomes. This positive charge, provided by the cationic phosopholipid used in the liposomal membrane, allows the liposomes to attach to negatively-charged hair fibers. The electrostatic attraction formed between the hair shaft and the liposome enables the liposome to cling to the fiber, resisting washing and rinsing of the hair. Once the liposome is attached to the hair fiber, its phospholipidic nature allows intercellular internalization to the cortex or to lower layers of the cuticle. The Hair Care Liposomes (HCLs) are manufactured through microfluidizing techniques from vegetable phospholipids. The cationic phospholipid used is also an excellent hair conditioner. The HCLs can increase the delivery of actives to the hair 10-fold. The actives delivered by these liposomes remain anchored to the hair after washing and therefore, can be absorbed into the fiber. It is not recommended to incorporate HCLs into formulations with a high level of tensioactives since the integrity of the liposomes could be affected. A range of standard HCLs are available...
