Article Excerpt PROVIDENCE, R.I., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas J. Hollister, President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Massachusetts since 1998, has been promoted to Vice Chairman of Citizens Financial Group (CFG) and will be President and CEO of the bank in the company's new Midwest Region, Citizens Chairman, President and CEO Lawrence K. Fish announced today. The company's new Midwest Region will include Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The acquisition will make Citizens one of the 10 largest commercial bank holding companies in the U.S. with $129 billion in assets. Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
Tom Hollister's appointment is one of several leadership changes resulting from Citizens' May 5 announcement that it will buy Cleveland-based Charter One Financial, Inc., the parent of Charter One Bank. As previously announced, Charles John "Bud" Koch, Charter One's chairman, president and CEO, will be non-executive chairman of the Midwest bank.
