HILLSBORO - Triangle Lake's historic run through the OSAA Class 1A football playoffs came to an abrupt end Saturday.

The Lakers, the No. 3 seed out of the Mountain West League, were no match for top-ranked and undefeated Perrydale, which advanced to the eight-man state championship game with a 56-14 semifinal victory before a crowd of 1,217 at Hillsboro Stadium.

"My hat's off to Perrydale. What an outstanding football team," Triangle Lake coach Tony Hammock said. "They whupped us in every sense of the word. Even if we had played our best game, I don't know if we could have beaten them."
