She's the new kid in town, but Brittany Bilderback has wasted no time making herself right at home as a key member of the Warren Blue Devils.

A freshman, Bilderback moved to the area from Kansas last summer. She's moved into high gear on the track this spring with a series of promising performances, including a hard day's night last week when she helped Warren finish a close third at the Lake County meet.

Bilderback ran the anchor leg for the Blue Devils' 800 medley and 3,200 relays, both of which finished second to Lake Forest. She came back later for a win in the 400 meters.

"I don't ordinarily do that," Warren coach Jim Lobitz said of the early relay double-up. "It was just something to look at."

However, just like her travels across the map, Bilderback takes her frequent zigzags throughout the lineup all in stride.

"I was training for the two-mile and the mile," she said. "Now I run everything from the four-by-one to the two mile. I...
