Fast 40 companies growing a great future for all of us.

It's a time-tested axiom that organizations, like civilizations, are either growing or dying.

Every two years the Mississippi Business Journal joins with KPMG, LLP, and Brunini, Grantham, Grower & Hewes, PLLC to recognize 40 of the fastest-growing Mississippi-based businesses in our state. Simmons Creative, a new partner for 2003, will supply the creative genius to make the program both meaningful and entertaining.

Selecting qualified nominees for this years' competition was a chore. Just finding 40 Mississippi-based companies who have survived and prospered during the trying economy of the last couple of years has been a challenge. Several of this years' winners worded that their growth during this difficult period would not be enough to win. However, in several cases, it was.

Though the selection process was harder than usual, our efforts have been richly rewarded. This year winners include representatives of many types of businesses from all parts of the state. The list includes an automobile dealership, some construction-related companies, health care, retail, wholesale, technology and many more. Truly an impressive list of success stories.

And, those success stories will be told at an award ceremony being held October 23rd at the Country Club of Jackson. Simmons Creative has prepared a brief video telling the story of each of the 40 winners. Jay Moon, president of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, will give the keynote address for the luncheon.

The Fast 40 selection process works like this: KPMG receives nomination information and financial data from companies around the state. That information is analyzed and revenue information verified by the accounting firm personnel and the staff of the Brunini law firm.
