MAPE salutes Subway''s Abraham for Clinton contributions.

CLINTON -- During the Depression years, Edward J. Abraham dropped out of school in the seventh grade to help his father, an immigrant who arrived in the U.S. in 1901, run a clothing business in Vicksburg. Recognizing the importance of education, Abraham became a staunch supporter of public schools and taught his five children the same principles and values.

Today, Mississippi Association of Partners in Education (MAPE) will honor the son of the late Edward J. Abraham. Robert Abraham, owner of Subway in Clinton, will receive the Partnership Ambassador for Education award, a special award commemorating a successful 14-year business partnership with Northside Elementary School in Clinton.
