There's new blood running through the basketball veins of two area schools this season - new, young coaching blood to be specific.

Brian Clodi, a St. Charles East assistant coach for the last three years, takes over the Saints program for Illinois hall of fame coach, Jerry Krieg, who abdicated the post last spring when he was named the school's athletic director.

Clodi was formerly a head coach for two seasons at Manteno High School before deciding to follow the lead of Krieg, his high school coach and mentor at Bishop McNamara in Kankakee, to St. Charles in 2000.

Meanwhile at Kaneland, 25-year-old Brian Rea will also begin the second head-coaching assignment of his budding career, succeeding the retired Ken Neahring, who coached for...
