Last week it was Stanford's Mark Bradford instead of Luke Powell. Two games before that it was Utah's Steve Savoy instead of Paris Warren.

One could even argue that Washington State's Sammy Moore had a bigger game against Oregon than did more-heralded teammate Devard Darling, and that Michigan's Steve Breaston hurt the Ducks more with his two touchdowns than veteran teammate Braylon Edwards did with his 13 receptions.

By the numbers, at least, the UO football team has fared pretty well against its opponents' No. 1 receivers this season. It has been those No. 2 or No. 3 guys who have done the most damage, whether it was reflected in the score or not.

The Ducks beat Stanford and Michigan. Moore's big game only added to the misery of a blowout loss to the Cougars.

But against the Utes, Savoy's six-reception, 176-yard performance was the difference in a 17-13 loss for the Ducks. His 69-yard touchdown in the second quarter pulled Utah...
