North Eugene High School hasn't lost a single student to suicide in recent memory, but that didn't stop Principal Peter Tromba from jumping at the chance to test-fly a new suicide prevention program.

Beginning this fall, North Eugene, along with Marist High School and Northwest Youth Corps' Outdoor High School, will launch SAFE-TEEN, a comprehensive approach that trains all staff and students to identify and find help for youths who are depressed or suicidal....
