SPRINGFIELD - Local sports coordinators agree that a sprawling multisport facility planned in mid-Springfield could help meet a need, but they're not ready to say it's going to be a slam-dunk success in the financial arena.

Executive Director Roy Gray of Broad Base Programs Inc. recently revised rough plans for an April start to the 160,000-square-foot project, saying it would more likely be September before design issues are ironed out with the city.

He hopes to open Lane Regional Sports Arena, at Main and 32nd streets, by next June.
