With the election over, Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger and California's Indian tribes took a rest from their verbal sparring and expressed hope for cooperation.

Representatives from both camps said in public statements that they looked forward to negotiating new terms for Indian gaming within state borders.

The tribes are interested in seeing what the new governor has in mind, said Anthony Pico, chairman of San Diego County's Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians.
